Volunteer Job Descriptions

Timers    A minimum of 5 timers needed per meet. No experience required. Timers have the best seat in the house for watching the events.

Officials  A minimum of 2 officials are needed per meet. Special "Turn and Stroke" training required. Savannah Coastal Swim League offers this training Contact Kathleen McCarthy for details fancycakes@aol.com .

Bullpen Parents  A minimum of 4 are needed per meet. The bullpen is the area where swimmers sit while waiting for their events. The bullpen parents normally divide up responsibilities for younger age groups to get the swimmers to the blocks in time for their next event.

Hospitality and Fundraising These Barracudas committees seek volunteers to sell heat sheets and other items at swim meets and to help with fun events throughout the season. Your help with meets, fun events and the end-of-the-year banquet  is greatly appreciated

How are parents involved?

While parental involvement is not required, we have to say volunteers are definitely appreciated! It is not a thankless job -- it is lots of fun. The coaches are the only paid staff members on the team. All board and meet staff positions are held by parent volunteers.

At registration, families pay a "Volunteer Deposit" per family (personal check). Families that have one parent volunteer at a minimum of three regular-season meets will have their Volunteer Deposit monies returned at the end of the season.

How do I volunteer?
